Factorization and the Soft-Collinear Effective Theory: Color-Suppressed Decays
We discuss the soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) and kinematic expansions in B-decays, focusing on recent results for color suppressed B → D(∗)X decays. In particular we discuss model independent predictions for B̄ → Dπ and B̄ → D∗0π0, and update the comparison using new experimental data. We show why HQET alone is insufficient to give these results. SCET predictions are also reviewed for ot...
متن کاملSoft-Collinear Factorization in Effective Field Theory
The factorization of soft and ultrasoft gluons from collinear particles is shown at the level of operators in an effective field theory. Exclusive hadronic factorization and inclusive partonic factorization follow as special cases. The leading order Lagrangian is derived using power counting and gauge invariance in the effective theory. Several species of gluons are required, and softer gluons ...
متن کاملThree-Scale Factorization Theorem and Effective Field Theory
We develop a perturbative QCD factorization theorem which is compatible with effective field theory. The factorization involves three scales: an infrared cutoff of order ΛQCD, a hard scale of order the B meson mass, and an ultraviolet cutoff of order the W boson mass. Our approach is renormalization group invariant and moderates the scale-dependence problem in effective field theory. Applying t...
متن کاملOn the exotic Higgs decays in effective field theory
We discuss exotic Higgs decays in an effective field theory where the Standard Model is extended by dimension-6 operators. We review and update the status of two-body lepton- and quark-flavor-violating decays involving the Higgs boson. We also comment on the possibility of observing three-body flavor-violating Higgs decays in this context.
متن کاملRadiative Leptonic B c Decays in Effective Field Theory
The recent discovery of the Bc meson by the CDF collaboration and proposed new experiments at Fermilab and CERN motivate new theoretical studies of the Bc system. Here we investigate the radiative leptonic decay Bc → γlν. This process is an important background to the annihilation process Bc → lν, which will be used to extract the Bc decay constant. We perform a modelindependent calculation, ba...
